WildEnergy Club was born from a simple observation during a challenging trek through Tasmania's rugged wilderness in early 2015. Founder Marcus Thornton, an experienced mountaineer and conservation advocate, noticed a growing disconnect between urban Australians and the spectacular natural environments surrounding them. Despite living on a continent blessed with diverse ecosystems from tropical rainforests to alpine peaks, many people lacked the confidence, knowledge, or community support to explore these treasures safely and sustainably.
What began as informal weekend hiking groups with friends quickly evolved into a structured organization dedicated to reconnecting people with nature through expertly guided adventures. The response was overwhelming. People craved authentic outdoor experiences but needed the right guidance, equipment access, and supportive community to make it happen. Within the first year, WildEnergy Club grew from a handful of enthusiasts to hundreds of active members exploring trails across New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland.
Today, WildEnergy Club stands as Australia's premier outdoor adventure community, having safely guided over fifteen thousand participants through wilderness experiences ranging from introductory nature walks to challenging multi-day expeditions. Our growth reflects a broader cultural shift toward active lifestyles, environmental awareness, and the proven mental and physical health benefits of regular nature immersion. We've expanded our program offerings to include trail running, wilderness camping, photography expeditions, and conservation volunteering, all while maintaining our founding commitment to safety, sustainability, and genuine wilderness access.
